Canine Allies CIC train Pre-trained Assistance Dogs for various disabilities including Dual and Multi-purpose Assistance Dogs (dogs that provide support in multiple categories).

Categories we train for:
- Medical Detection (e.g. POTS, epilepsy, etc.)
- Allergen Detection
- Mobility Support
- Guidework
- Hearing Assistance
- Psychiatric Assistance (e.g. Autism, PTSD, etc.)

Our Programme Assistance Dogs currently have a waitlist, however, this is not first come first serve. Each Assistance Dog that we train will be screened for which disability they may help best with, therefore, some disability categories may have different wait times to others.

Partially trained Assistance Dogs take around 1.5 years to train whereas Fully trained Assistance Dogs take around 2 years to train.

Canine Allies CIC runs a breeding programme with health-tested dogs. The puppies from each litter are health-checked and temperament tested to see if they will be suitable for Assistance Dog work. Those who pass their assessments are then trained to become Assistance Dogs. Those who do not pass are found loving family homes.

Additionally, some programme puppies are donated to us by members of the public and other charities.

We will carry out various interviews with you and assessments on each of our dogs to find the best fit, looking at various aspects of lifestyle, ability, taskwork and health. We want to set each team up for the best chances of success and will only match you with a dog that we truly believe will meet your disability needs as well as a role where they are healthy and happy.

The cost of one of our Programme Assistance Dogs is £13,500, including your deposit. It costs £17,500 to fully train our Assistance Dogs, thanks to our sponsors we are able to lessen this price for our clients and hope to be able to further lessen the costs with growing sponsorships and partnerships. A full breakdown of this price can be seen in our Programme Dog booklet. Payment plans are available.

Partially trained Assistance Dogs whilst cheaper than a fully trained Assistance Dog, will depend solely on what point in their training they are matched with their handler.

Most Assistance Dogs when retired will stay with their handler, though we will always put the team's needs first. If it is not suitable for the Assistance Dog to stay with the handler we will put our best efforts in to find them a loving home to enjoy retirement.
