Assistance Dog Murphy & Liz

Partnered December 2023.

''Hiya, my name is Lizzie and I have a multipurpose assistance dog in training called Murphy! Murphy is a 4 year old working cocker spaniel and is my lifeline! I originally got Murphy as just a pet but when he was about a year old unfortunately I suffered a brain injury! This has resulted in extreme chronic fatigue, PTSD and OCD! Before I started Murphy's training I was extremely limited in my ability to do basic things such as go to the grocery store and if I did it would result in a huge flare up! But since Murphy started his training he has been changing my life more and more! He is now currently working on stage 4 and is nearly fully trained! I still suffer with all of the same conditions but I can do so much more now! For example in September of 2024 I was a bridesmaid at my godsister's wedding! This was about a 14hr day and although it was amazing and great fun I never would have been able to manage it without Murphy! He was brilliant throughout the whole day, it was a huge achievement for us as a team! But how did we get there? In January of 2024 we joined canine allies and I don't think Murphy would still be training if it wasn't for this amazing organisation! There's been so many points where I've wanted to just give up with his training, it's not always easy trying to owner train an AD! but thanks to the amazing training advice and encouragement, along with the amazing community within CA that's always supportive towards us! Murphy will hopefully be taking his PAT soon! So to canine allies, thank you so much, we never could have gotten this far if it wasn't for your help ''
