''Bella is my multipurpose assistance dog, and she changes my life every single day. Before she came into my life, everything felt like a constant battle. Education, home life, and even my free time were all struggles. I had no independence. I could not even go into a shop by myself. I was constantly unwell, overwhelmed, and lacking the motivation to move forward.
Since Bella has been by my side, I’ve grown in so many positive ways. She’s helped me return to education and even accompanies me to college. We do lessons together and she has helped me talk to people, she is my voice. We live there together, away from family, with little support, everyone thought this was impossible. With her I feel happiness, excitement, and a sense of joy again. While there are still tough days, Bella is always there to help me get through them.
One of the most incredible things she does is detect seizures long before they happen, which keeps me safe. This ability allows me to go out on my own, knowing that she’ll alert me to any seizures, giving me the chance to call for help or get assistance and keeps me safe. No matter what, she’s always there for me, and she always will be. Together, we’re an unbeatable team.
We joined CA because Bella’s old org closed down, it was unfortunate however we decided to join canine allies for support.
I was hesitant at first however since joining we haven’t looked back. The amount of support we have received has been incredible. From group sessions, talking to trainer’s about worries, chatting to people also with CA we have felt like we are seen. The org is INCREDIBLY supportive and when you have worries I find the trainers are easy to talk to.
One thing that was a complete changer for them is that when I joined they asked me what my needs were. My old org did not ask this they just put me in a one size fits all box, this org has gone outside of the box. Asking what I need, what my dog needs and more. They don’t only ask this but they do this too, they don’t push your boundaries and they take it little steps at a time which I love about them.''
