Volunteer Accountant

--Canine Allies CIC--

We are seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Volunteer Accountant to support our financial operations. This is a vital role that will ensure our finances are well-managed, transparent, and compliant, helping us to focus on what matters most—supporting individuals through the power of assistance dogs.  

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records using appropriate accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or spreadsheets)
  • Prepare and manage financial reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets
  • Assist with budget planning and monitoring
  • Support the preparation and submission of annual accounts and reports to Companies House and the CIC Regulator
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial policies and regulations
  • Provide financial insight and support to the board and fundraising team 
  • Liaise with external accountants or auditors as required

Must Have

  • AAT qualified, part-qualified accountant, or relevant experience in bookkeeping or financial management
  • Ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage)
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • A commitment to the mission and values of Canine Allies CIC

Nice to have

  • Experience in charity or non-profit accounting is desirable but not essential
